I’m so happy you’re here!

My name is Nami and I’m from a small beach town in New Zealand called Mount Maunganui.

For as long as I can remember, the ocean has always felt like home. If I’m not in the sea, you’ll usually find me wandering somewhere close to the shoreline.

For over a decade, I’ve guided people into the water to meet Whales and Dolphins across the Pacific Islands, New Zealand and Australia. Time and time again, I’ve witnessed the quiet magic that unfolds when someone locks eyes with a whale or drifts alongside a pod of dolphins — those moments when the world fades away and only connection remains. There’s nothing more rewarding to me than seeing the joy and awe on a person’s faces when they light up in the presence of these incredible marine mammals. It’s a constant reminder of why I love what I do so much.

My Polynesian ancestry holds a deep bond with the ocean. Whales and Dolphins are woven into the stories of my lineage — guardians, messengers and our ancestors. They have been some of my greatest teachers — showing me presence, strength, playfulness, beauty, harmony and grace. Being with them feels like remembering something ancient and true. Every encounter with them feels like a deep, soulful homecoming — moments I wish could last forever.

To The Sea Encounters is my way of sharing this love. These trips are not only about swimming with Whales and Dolphins — they’re an invitation to slow down, be fully present and to experience the magic of the moment while connecting meaningfully with the ocean and its wildlife.

It would be my honour to guide you into the sea and swim beside you as you meet the whales and dolphins — in a world where magic and wonder come alive.
