I am so happy you are here!

My name is Nami and I am from Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. 

For as long as I can remember, the ocean has always felt like home.

If I’m not in the water, you’ll usually find me wandering somewhere close to the shoreline. 

For over a decade, I’ve guided people to meet whales and dolphins across the Pacific islands, New Zealand and Australia. 

I’ve seen the quiet magic that unfolds when someone locks eyes with a whale or drifts alongside a pod of dolphins, moments when the world fades away and only connection remains.

There’s nothing more rewarding to me than seeing the joy and awe on a person’s faces when they light up in the presence of these gorgeous marine mammals. It’s a constant reminder of why I love what I do so much!

My Polynesian ancestry holds a deep bond with the ocean. Whales and dolphins are woven into the stories of my lineage as guardians, messengers and our ancestors.

They have been some of my greatest teachers — showing me what it means to live with presence, strength, beauty, harmony, grace, joy and playfulness too. Being with them feels like a soulful homecoming.

To The Sea Encounters is my way of sharing this love. Each trip is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature and to meet these incredible animals in their natural, wild and beautiful blue home.
